About me

Hi! My name is Shauna and I am a high school math teacher and a busy mom of a toddler boy. I have always enjoyed creating art, and my dream (once upon a time) was to teach math during the school year, and paint during my summers. 

Surprise! Nothing goes according to plan. Instead, I spent my summers (and any time I wasn't teaching) traveling- Costa Rica, Colombia, Guatemala, Australia, Thailand, Iceland (just to name a few!). Traveling became a new passion of mine, submersing myself in a new culture (and often traveling alone!). I even love airports. It's true.

Now, I have entered a new chapter in my life. My son was born April 2025, and my days of travel are currently being put on hold (yes I know I could travel with him- I'm just not ready yet). When I returned to teaching after my maternity leave, things just weren't the same. They say everything changes when you have a baby, and boy were they right. I've had my dream job of teaching math for 10 years now, but my dream is now shifting. I dream of being a stay at home mom with my son, and perusing a career in art in order to do so. I never thought making a career out of my art was possible (and who knows if it will be!) but now seems as good as time as any!

I've decided to center my art around nature, as I have always felt connected to the beauty and peace it brings me. Take a moment today to enjoy a small detail from nature. These are the moments that inspire my paintings, as it awakens my senses and brings me a moment where time seems to stand still. Now put down your screen, and go take a breath of fresh air. I think I will do the same.
